RIO

Rörelsefolkhögskolornas intresseorganisation, RIO, is an umbrella organization aiming at supporting and promoting the interests of 107 folk high schools owned by popular organizations, foundations and associations in Sweden.

This is done through representing the schools in different institutions, organizations, and committees and through negotiating with authorities regarding better working conditions for RIO´s member organizations. That includes among other things keeping up the information to the schools about changes in the society that might affect them in different ways as well as responding to governmental reports concerning topics of interest for the schools. Lobbying for more realistic governmental economical support is another issue given high priority by RIO. Different educational, developing and evaluating activities are other aspects of RIO´s agenda.

RIO´s congress, where the board members are elected, is held every second year.
